Richard B. Cheney, a distinguished public servant and businessman, is the vice president. Cheney was well-known on the Washington political scene. George W. Bush would be his Fourth U.S. President. Bush picked Cheney as his vice presidential candidate in July 2000, citing Cheney's expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president. He also served as an elected congressman Congress and was secretary of defence. Cheney is a man with integrity whom is admired by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney believes that his job within the Bush administration is to serve as a candid but discrete advisor. When he accepted the Republican vice-presidential nod Cheney stated that he looks forward to working with an administration that will strive to get things done by engaging across the partisan divide and working with political opponents with good will and a common goals. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30 1941) was the son of Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been engaged to Richard Herbert Cheney for over thirty years. After 13 years of age, old, he emigrated together with family members from Nebraska to Casper within the Western region of Wyoming, where his father was the director of the local district of soil conservation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
