April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons, sparking her interest in music writing. April's very first song was called Different, which she wrote at the age of 12. When April was 14 years old, she dedicated long hours creating song ideas as well as perfecting the song. The songwriting began along with her dad in NY and LA soon after. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled with peer pressure, disabilities or suicide. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle influencer, as well as working in partnerships with clean-cut beauty brands Ilia and YSL, has cultivated her own following. She has a disability that is a component of her personality, but it's not all of the of the picture. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. But it also doesn't make it a point to emphasize the issue. The profile is a statement. The message? We have many different aspects, that our identities and physical selves are not all that they seem. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I don't think that is what defines my character. It's not my intention to have an impact on disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." It doesn't impact my daily life. I go about doing my job as normal and have found different ways of adapting. Because it's part of who I am and something worth talking about. Self-acceptance is a long marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration in this regard. Still, she admits that she went through a few phases regarding her appearance, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing outfits that showcased her arms. Today, she wears anything she likes. and she shares her pictures to social networks. The self-love she talks about is a journey. It's not clear when you'll reach the point of no return. However, that is the case with anyone that is prone to doubts. I think it is important to be surrounded by people who can really understand the person you are.
