The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs and I was strapped with one of them on my back. Ha! We were getting close to completing, however the project was still a distance away. In this undertaking I was ready to shell out a substantial amount of money and time looking for my dream house. To stay within my budget I took my sons along with me as I searched for treasures in estate sales. Every week, we would go through estate sales and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays buying a mixture of new and old pieces. Then I would spend working on my projects out in the driveway. The furniture I found looked like... this is the moment my love for restoring furniture was born. It didn't matter if our house had already been furnished. I had a stand in the market at my local location and sold pieces there. It was possible to expand my space because I owned plenty of pieces that I could use. My house was transformed into a space in which I held open houses, where up to 1,000 people could view the items on my first floor and purchase these items. Growing Days was founded in my own home. As my business flourished, so did our little family. I was finding that balance of what it was like to start a new business as well as a mother too. Growing Days just fit. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. I was thrilled with where my company was heading but I needed some time off. I decided to step back and stay at home, spending time with my kids. It was the right time. However after a few months off the phone started to call. They asked for assistance with interior decorating and home renovations. Most of these people were those who had walked through my property during furniture open houses! In the following months, I began to take on more clients, at my own speed. In the end, I had many customers and was operating an enterprise of renovations to homes. There is a good chance that I would have been laughing if somebody had informed me that my business was going to be the basis for an upcoming television show that airs on the DIY Network. As I look back on this situation and think about it, I laugh.
